Mirage 2000C Braz. Air Force - 1/72 - Revell

Post by AndreFerro »

Howdy Guys!
My first work here at ISM and since it´s one of the three I have on the bench now, would like to share with you.

A little bit of Contemporary History:
Brazilian Air Force has issued a bid for renewing the fighter vectors, presently based on the good & old F5-E Tiger, which even with her life extended for almost a decade on her F5-EM version, ('E' version Modernized), is expected to last till max 2018-2020. The project named "FX-BR".
However, since the bidding dragged for years and the supersonic Mirage IIIEBR were already coming to the end of their useful life, in 2005 Brazilian Goverment bought 10 Mirage 2000C (monoplace) + 2 Mirage 2000D (biplace) all ex-French Air Force to equip the 1st Air Defense Group (nicknamed "JAGUARS") to fill the gap (hopefully) untill the end of the bidding process. Latter, the bidding dragged for so many years due bureacracy and political issues, that the Mirage 2000's were already retired in 2013! But this is another story...

Here are some pics of the Mirage 2000C with Brazilian colors:

nice work!

Just wondering: How did you mask the FAB Stars? I've experimented with some ways of stenciling small detail but always failed miserably :| Your way looks to be working perfectly

you guys who build 1/72 stuff and get the detail you do are magicians, my eyesight won't let me try to detail anything smaller than 1/48

great job so far

Thks John! I build 1/72 still, while my eyes allows me to do so. But I am already migrating to 1/48 scale... But, LOTS of 1/72 stuff still to build! And when I say LOTS, I mean about 65 different kits (jets & props) in their boxes...

In a while, a brief update of decalling.
