Schwimmwagen wreck

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

Whilst waiting for my oddling base kits to get in, I had to occupy myself with something.
I had this old 'not so well painted' schwimmwagen laying around. And a while ago I came across
an image of a schwimmwagen wreck that was found in Sweden. So now I thought, let's wreck it like that!

Here's the image

Image

And this is the victim! :wtf:

Image

So I stripped everything off that's also gone in the inspiration image, drilled a hole in the back and one in the hood,
cut off the fenders, took out the chairs, built a new broken windscreen, added some details with leftover PE parts,
and got myself a proper wreck!

Here's the result before painting.

Image

Image

Next up is painting and weathering (the weathering is gonna be a party on this one!)
And after that I'm gonna make a little dio for it to rest it's rusty metal in.

That's all for now folks.

cheers
Cheers

Yes, I did see that recently (haven't been a member of this forum for long)
Amazing water you created there, and a lot of patience to wait for 3 months for it to dry clear lol.
Well worth it in the end, cool schwimmy too by the way :cheers2:

What is it with us modellers - where others see rust and decay, we see beauty and inspiration!

Great start and looking forward to see you weave your magic on it. Are you sure you didn't paint and weather the full size one!?! :thumb2:

Great job up to now Han.
Specially love the wood, very realistic :

I have only one comment. I think the white is a little bit to white, in the picture it looks more like a sandy colour. Maybe a filter?

I constructed a new window frame form plastic and cut two tiny pieces transparent plastic packaging material and glued that on with superglue.

Final Update!

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

The Schwimm and the dio are done!

Check 'm out:

I made a tiny dio. Just big enough for the schwimm to sit on comfortably.

Started of with some board and styro foam.

Image

A layer of DAS clay

Image

Some cardboard to keep the earth/water/glue from running of.

Image

The mix

Image

Sprinkled some tiny twigs and stuff that I find on the forrest floor.

Image

Some big twigs and some plastic moss

Image

More twigs on the side

Image

Image

And the finished dio!
