Airfix 1/24 Typhoon

Post by graham22 »

And started my new project the 1/24 Typhoon
Image
Making steady progress the instructions are comprehensive but the drawings need careful studying to ensure you get the parts together correctly
So far great kit

More on the Typhoon
Port wing top
Gun covers

Absolute pain putting the fuselage sides in place but got there in the end, need to make sure you ease the sides into the wing roots, not the easiest assembly but I think it's ok.
Daft thing is it tells you to paint the inside of the rear fuselage- totally waste of paint as it is fully hidden
It's certainly growing in size

Bit more tonight, fitted the tail and rudder
And have been wrestling for over an hour with the supercharger as it sits a bit proud and the cowling will not wrap around it properly
So it's come off, been trimmed, cut, filed and battered not to mention cussed
But I think it will be ok now.
Bonded the wing root covers in place. Needs to dry now before I try the lower fittings

Superb build
It looked like an F1 car frame at the start....have not seen any out of box plane builds have the full in airframe.....especially Airfix
Great detail work in engine and cockpit
This is a pretty cool build :thumb2:

More decals tonight, loads of Microsol being used tonight to get the roundels to conform to the wing details, and they had to be cut around the gun bays, scary
I'm going to have the port wing closed and starboard wing open
Engine bay will be open (as the covers don't fit to well)

Awesome string! Awesome build. This may have convinced me to go and take the plunge with that kit. Never built an Airfix kit or a 1/24 scale kit for that matter.

Looking forward to the final reveal to see what you do with the detailing and weathering.

Awesome (superlatives escape me)!
