Dragon Tiger I Mid Production w/Zimmerit - Reveal

Post by alextheblue »

Phew! Managed to get it finished in time, although it was touch and go there for a moment. I never really doubted that I would complete it, as I was determined that I wouldn't flunk out on this SiG and would have worked round the clock if needs be. Bearing in mind Mike's input into the hobby over the years, the very least I could do was to finish up one tiny little dio. Well that's enough of the gushy stuff, apart from to say, nice one Mike, you're one top bloke, no to mention a very fine modeller. I think you only have to see the sheer volume of work that's gone into this SiG and the entries are really quite mind-blowing - some fantastic work from everyone!!!

Just a quick round-up before the neverending deluge of poorly taken photo's - well, what can I say, it's a Dragon kit and the quality is exactly what you would expect. Everything went together very nicely and the detail is very good. It does come with the DS tracks and I know a lot has been written and said about these, but I think I must have got lucky as mine were ok and didn't seem damaged in any way. The figures are all from Tamiya as I couldn't quite stretch to some resin ones and the base is home-made courtesy of a cheapo B&Q picture frame.

The first few pics were taken outside, but turned out a little too bright for my liking, so I retreated back indoors.

Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this build and I've seen at least 68 winners (and counting), hell, I think they're all winners!! :cheers2: The only down side for me, was not posting as many comments as I would have liked to due to the usual time constraints etc. Although it has been noted that Mike didn't miss a post with his usual support and help - which I guess is exactly why so many people wanted to honour him in this SiG.

For you Mike!!   : : : :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2:

Oh my!!!
Alex this is a wonderful piece buddy. The test of the natural light proves that. She's wonderful.
I know that children are doing the judging for this SIG, and I'm kinda glad. I wouldn't want to do it. Holy hell it would be hard to choose, I think that a child's innocence would make it easier.

Well done on a really excellent piece Alex. She's awesome dude! :th: :th: :th:

The way this is weathered is one of my favorites for sure. Just enough chipping and grime to look right.

Not completely accurate colour-wise, but I loved the box-art.

Thanks Mannloon! :th:

Had to hold myself back with the weathering - I usually like to go in quite heavy, but didn't think it appropriate for this one.
