So lets start with a hello !

This will be my first posted build on ISM and i thought this would be a good starting point.
I have made a few friends on the ISM face book page and have made good friends with the POP guys.
I have always liked the idea of building one of these odd egg planes, so while i was at the first show of the year i found a stall selling these kits. The kit that took my fancy was the space shutttle

The kit itself i will build out the box. The only changes i have planned is, that it will be displayed in flight. This will require filling the wheel mounting points.
The idea i had for mounting was using a photo frame as a base. I will put a picture of the earth in the frame and have clear sticks making it look like it was floating. With the size of the photo frame it was going too look a little alone so i have decided to build an egg satellite
For now i will show the standard in bag shots
After dinner i will post the progress shots

So to start i got the main body built and the seam line filled
here is the two half's the internal tub and the front nose removed and cleaned up

smouthed. You can also see what i will be using for the satellite

Next job was fill and smouth the holes.
A tip for filling roung holes. Cut some sprue and use that to fill the holes. no chance of it sinking and it sands at the same rate as the rest of the plastic



thats it for today tomorrow i will put up the satellite picture as i finished it off tonight

Off to a great start mate look forward to seeing it come together

So a quick bit of progress was the space man
He was painted with tamiya x2. The visor was given a first base of vallejo air yellow and then alclad bronze dusted over, that was then clear coated.
When it was all dry I pin washed the folds in the body.
He's done ready for his space walk

Coming along sweet. Like the Egg Satellite idea

So I had the idea too make a egg satellite
This Is the image I found too base it on
First step was how to make a plastic or resin egg.
I thought of ways to cover an egg with resin but could not think of an easy way to do it.
While out with the family we went past hobby craft, it's a UK large craft shop
With it being Easter I was very lucky too find plastic eggs, who would have thought ?

So once home first job was too sand it down and cut the top off
With the main body sorted I then needed a part for the dish. I cut off the top and bottom of one egg to see which one would be the best too use
For the shape wise the bottom dish looked best

Next step was make the dish
Fairly simple
Centre pole and then three out supports
Next job was the solar pannels
Too make the build and painting easier I glued a tube into the egg. I then made the solar pannels from plastic card stuck them too a plastic rod
That was the main parts built

Next was the main body needed a bit more too it, so i stuck plastic plastic rod around the out side
Next up paint

So on with the painting
The main body got alclad aluminium then dark areas with steel finished off with a coat klear

Next up was the solar pannels
Base coat white, edges masked , then a deep blue sprayed on. I then lightened the colour with grey to give the edges some definition

So final section on the satelite was putting it all together.
Next step is get on with shuttle

Very good mate. Eggcelent idea and ... eggzecution so far.
