Dragon 1/72 Type 95

Well... this is new. and to those who are wondering this is Jim Baldwin: modeler apprentice and (sometimes) i can build a good kit. this is my first post, so it may not look great but as they say, babies shall fall on the first walk.

SO, all the BS out of the way.... I'm building the 1/72 Dragon Type 95 Japanese (extreme) light tank. Overall it was a good looking kit, nice detail and wonderful rivets (I'm not a rivet counter).

Small doesn't begin to describe the size of the tank.... I originally wanted the cupola hatch doors open but I later decided against it. They are now shut and will stay this way. The build was a shrunken 1/35 type 95, that being said the kit wasn't a great build for its size. I think the kit needed to be reworked to help the builder with the scale. Mostly for the suspension joints.

The plan is simple, on paper. Make an underwater diorama and use clear resin to build the water. The result, God Almighty willing, should look like a Type 95 on the deck atop the San Francisco Maru.

Once built I base coated with Tamiya satin black, then my base color was Tamiya olive green XF-58. Once that was done I took a rattle can of Model Master Desert Mustard and lightly coated to give a dotted effect, and finally I sprayed thinned Tamiya black green XF-27. This completed the painting process. On to Texture!

To give the bacteria growth and rust I shaved a brown chalk sick into dust and mixed it with Woodland Scenics green Fine Turf. I used Vallejo Matt Varnish as my fixer for my mixture. I'll post that next time because it seems I can no longer post more images.
