Global Scale Modeller

OK guys,
this is my first WIP, like ever! I am absolutely a newbie to both modelling and the photography that I'll be using for this; so don't expect a master class!
As I progress through this model build, I'll be using the forum to gain insight as to technique, so please point me in appropriate directions if I go astray (what if)!!
I have completed two models in the last 50 years! I hear Paul's a bit quicker! But I've been bitten by the bug, and infected with the incurable condition fine scale modellitis! Apparently, the only cure is to give in to these unnatural urges and learn to live with it.

So here goes guys; My Airfix 1:72 RAF Red Arrows Hawk Build.

I don't know if this is a new tooling or if it's a relatively new model, but the sprues are fairly clean of flash, and some good detail1

The pilot has been abducted from sprue D; his fate will become clear in due course!

I built one of these about 3 years ago and got some enamel paint on the inside of the cock pit, so I cleaned it of with some white spirit. Next day I had a completely opaque canopy!

Given how I'm painting the pilot figure; that might be a good idea!!

I have to say; I haven't decided whether or not to actually use the pilot figure yet. It depends how the painting turns out. It promises to be a bit fiddly!

The next stage.
Cockpit parts removed from sprues and cleaned up.
Stuck on sticks for painting, except one part that does not require painting.



Oh dear! Is this a human rights abuse!!

It looks like you're nicely prepared with your separate pieces on cocktail sticks to move ahead with adding "make-up", I mean color! Have fun with your first WIP, take your time and enjoy it every step of the way!
