Hello there ,

I've just started modelling again after nearly a 15 year absence , so I'm taking it slow .
I'm starting pretty much from scratch new paints , brushes and glue so any tips would be well received any way I look forward to having discussion on everything that is modelling in the world .

I returned to modelling after 50 years , and it still takes me 2 years to finish a build! so don't worry about taking it slow!

HI Carlos,
You don't say if ground, air, sea or cars are you main "thing". In the last 15 years some things have changed in most of the newer models, moldings have improved, allowing much smaller detail parts, photo etch is almost standard in newer kits, and there is a much bigger variety of subjects available.
I would suggest you start with a kit from the time you left of, ie, a 15 year old kit, just to ease back into things before heading into the newer stuff.
Invest in a good hobby knife, good sprue cutters, quality tweezers, files and sanders and lighting, these will make everything more enjoyable. As for paints, it depends on whether or not you will be airbrushing and whether or not you are willing to spend the money on two sets of paints, one for the airbrush and one for hand painting. A big factor for your choice of paints should be what is available locally, if you have a local hobby shop being able to run over there and pick up a missing colour is always going to be better than waiting for the postman to show with a parcel from around the world.
I forgot glue on the list of must haves, a thick plastic cement (like Humbrol or any other in a bottle with a metal needle), a thin cement (Tamiya extra thin is the gold standard, but Mr. Hobby and others make some) and a CA (super glue), don't get the hardware store stuff, get a hobby glue, the slow setters are much easier to work with so look for the 15-20 second set-up ones.

Cheers Forbeshutton for the advice and it was ground ie tanks and figures and the like , I think it might have to be tamiya paints or vellejo paint their the one in my local hobby shop and I don't have a airbrush yet so it's all hand painted but I will acquire one as soon as I can .
