So as this is a new tool and theres a dire shortage of good 1/48 hurricanes i thought i would add this to the stash.

Waiting on some aftermarket to arrive before i can start the mosquito so thought i would build this in the meantime.

Looks to be a great little kit and for £16 a bargain too.








The cockpit build up really quick, probably about an hours work if that.








Test fitting, apparently sticking bits together with masking tape means your 95% done with the build

wow! That looks pretty damn good! Only had a quick scroll through the picks, but looks impressive so far. I've always said that Airfix would get more interest if they did more 1/48 stuff. I think the hardcore fanboys pressure them into 1/72!

But damn you ISM, you may be FFFFRRREEEEEEEEEEE, but you're making me spend a lot of money, lol!

You've twisted my arm & i'll be getting this kit at the end of the month & it'll be an entry to a youtube gb & i'll be doing it in the markings of Bader's hurricane & making my first vignette with a figure of Douglas Bader beside the aircraft, well that's the general idea anyway.

Airfix are really getting there...not fast, but getting there.
I recently got the Mk.V and it looks promising.
Also the Do17z which was a really impressive 1/72 kit detail wise.
Am about to order this and the Mk.I Spit.

Looks great, really like the stressed fabric texture on the fuse.

So a bit more progress on this, its an ok kit not perfect but goes together fairly well

The fuselage and wing sections were glued together, filled sanded and re scribed, i got the rudder and elevators on as well as the ailerons. It just needed a few bit of filler here and there not too much.





I sprayed with matt black to check seam lines then masked the canopy and glued it in place, again fit was good and the clear parts are fairly good.

So got this presided and base camo colours down the other day. I was hoping to use my usual akan paints for this, but for the first time the colours looked off to me, the dark earth was way way too dark and the dark green too dark too.

So i found substitutes in mr hobby rlm brown looked best to me and tamiya dark green instead. I still used Akan Sky for the undersides as it looks spot on to me

The pattern was sprayed freehand using my iwata custom




I then spend some time fading, bleaching and post shading the panels giving it a paint weathered look

Painting looks great

The bleaching and fading really ties the camo together perfectly.

Not bad, not perfect but good. Great hurricane for the money, my only fault is the exhausts need to be drilled out really and very hard to do that to the kit parts

So decaling all done got to love solvaset nothing beats it for setting decals.

All parts are painted and primed ready for when i get back to it

Coming along nicely and at a good pace. Finished soon?

Hi Paul. Looks amazing. The hand sprayed camouflage is just great. The new tool Hurricane is on my list of kits to get in the near future, especially at that price. Can I ask a quick question? I notice the yellow square on the upper wing, I have the same thing on my mk1 Spit (inboard of the guns) and I don't know what it is for. Would you happen to know?

Also, totally agree your comment about decal setting solution, they look great the way yours have sucked down in to the panel lines. First rate job!

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the yellow square is a gas detection patch, if there was poisonous gas in the air the patch would change colour warning the pilot to put on his gas mask.
