Modelcraft's North American T-6G Trainer in 1:48 "The Pilot Maker"

Hi all,

My choice for this build is the T-6 trainer, the primary training aircraft for generations of American pilots. The scheme choices are all from the mid 1950s from bases around the U.S.

I'm primarily working on my Navy build right now, so this thread will be slow for a while. But I did want to go ahead and post what I'll be doing.

This is a modelcraft rebox of the Occidental kit, which was also used by Italeri. I'm going for a factory finish for this one. Thanks for looking in.

I finally got around to cleaning up the workstation to get started on the Texan. From inspection on the plastic, everything seemed normal. That is, until I cut open the bag....

Sink marks, bent pieces galore. Will have my work cut out to get this in flying shape by Aug 31.

Enough accomplished for an update. Cockpit PE in place, engine wiring, etc. drilled out exhaust. model master chromate green for the interior with Ultimate thinner of course.




















I really like the detail on parts of the control surfaces, even before PE.

Alright so we now have some color down on the various controls. Not sure if I can get this thing to cross the finish line in time. Been a busy summer.
