Andrew's Boba Fett

So this is my first SIG and seeing as this is a Star Wars SIG I'll probably post a few of these builds as I have several models in the stash.

Thought I would start off with Boba Fett, it is Knight Models 70mm white metal figure, bought this ages ago with several others and haven't gotten around to them so time to start. Below is some images of what you get in the metal can. It's quite nice and detailed, I will put it together over the next few days as it will need pinning.




This is the main body


These are the extra bits that need attaching.

I will be pinning most parts as the attachment points are not the best on these models, as I have built a few previously.

Hopefully post a picture in a few days of him fully assembled.

I have now managed to get him together, with only one superglue misshap (glad I had debonder on hand, literally)

I so all the major pieces are pinned with brass rod, and superglued in place and then I have used milliput to fill in the gaps, The braided wookee strand is superglued in place and then milliput applied to smooth the detail in. The gun strap was superglued to the butt of the gun and then left to set, then the rest of the strap positioned.



Since taking the photos I have repositioned the front of the gun strap to the base of the grip as this is actually where it is supposed to go. I also straightened up the eye piece antenna thing,

After some digging around the internet I found a ton of images of the Boba Fett costume on a website http://www.thedentedhelmet.com
I figured out that the Knight Models Boba Fett is based on the costume from Empire Strikes Back as his equipment and armour changed style and colour during the films.


I will use this as the basis for painting the miniature. I should get around to priming him this weekend so some time next week I will hopefully get started on the painting.

He's nowhere near as cool with his helmet off

So, having realised that there is now less than a month until TFA is out

I had probably better get a move on with this figure. So sat down this weekend and dedicated a large portion of it to getting some work done on this build.

First off I went through and painted the trousers and shirt grey putting shadows in all the right places.


Then went through and blocked in the green armour (also did the ammo belt in leather as well). The armour needs a bit more work as it is slightly too dark and needs to be lightened up a bit.


Then went round and blocked in the major other colours namely the cloak the pads and the other colours on the face mask. The cloak and pads still need a lot of work to be finished off properly with shading


Hopefully next weekend I can get the rest of the major parts painted and then it will be down to painting all the details and insignia. Of course all this nice painting then needs to be messed up with chips and stains seeing as his armour isn't exactly prestine.

In any case back on track to get this figure done before hte film release

Yeah TwoKidsnosleep he definitely looks odd and out of place without his helmet. The redhead definitely doesn't look that impressed

I managed to get some more work done on the figure this weekend. All the colours are on now and some of the markings.




Now if Jango Fett had managed to keep his head and teach young Boba Fett how to keep his armour polished, and clean then this paint job would be basically over. Unfortunately, Jango lost his head

So now I need to go round and add all the damage and chipping to the armour. First off I am going to put a matt layer over everything to give me a good even surface to work from as there are some very shiny regions from the glazes, and washes that have been used to get the colours. The hlemet needs a few filters as the yellow/orange markings are faded on the real helmet, was just eaiser to paint them fully and fade them rather than trying to paint them faded to start with. Then it will be a run round with some metallics to put on all the dents and scrapes. Then finish the base and add a bit of weathering to the shoes and bottom of the trousers.

Hopefully, this should be fairly quick and easy, especially as there are only 10 days to go

Last update on this before I post the reveal images later in the week.

So all the battle damage has now been applied and I have finished tidying up the last few bits.


Most of the damage is concentrated on Boba's helmet, I presume he must get his head in the way quite often due to the amount of scratchs ad scraps aas well as dents on the helmet.




Just need to stick him to the official base and then he is finished.
