Tamiya 1/16 Leopard 2A6 RC Full Option with tuning

Post by andreb87 »

hey guys i'm very happy! today i received the last missing add on parts for my leopard, it took a while because the hull reinforcement plates are handmade and delivery takes up to 3 months.

so here it is! one of the best kits tamiya has ever made! it comes in a huge heavy box! beautifully packed it really looks like a high quality kit and it is a high quality kit! the kit alone cost 800 euros without a remote control, receiver and a battery! it is by far the most realistic rc leopard you can buy.

for those who are interested here is a link for an unboxing video

Image

Image

Image

i will add a few addon parts for example the metal hull reinforcement and metal parts to tighten and adjust the track sag.
also an electronic gun stabilisator which works like the real thing! 2 sets of figures beacuse i need some parts of them to scratchbuild my own!
barbed wire for the tank and german ranks decals! the usual rc remote control and batteries are not included in the kit you have to buy them seperately!

Image

Image

Image

Image

i'm so excited to start with the build ... you have to assemble everything on your own, even the gearbox and all the mechanic mechanisms!
never done that before so that will be a real challenge for me! i know this is a damn expensive project and i'm happy that i was finally able to
afford it this year! all in all i spent 1300 euros on this project and thats a lot of cash! i will be very busy the next months with 2 1/16 monsters on my bench! the king tiger with interior is huge and takes ages to build but this thing is even bigger than the king tiger! the gun barrel is so large you can put a finger in it -.- i will keep you updated i think i will start with the build on sunday! wish me luck :D :cheers2:

Wow that looks very cool. I am an RC hobbyist as well and I enjoy putting rc kits together. This kit looks expensive and complicated. lol

god damn it i just had to order new paints :D :D :D i had 2 bottles of migs nato green, both 100% full and now i'm out of paint :D half of the upper hull is still unpainted and the turret is missing as well :D i think all in all you need 4 bottles of paint for 1 1/16 tank of this size ... crazy i already sprayed 1 full bottle of satin varnish over the lower hull :D its finsihed now. it needs to be protected well because the tank has to deal with real terrain, dust and maybe wet ground! btw i just broke the light cable for the backlight ... had to order a new one but thats okay you can buy every spare part for this tank online and the prices are okay! paid 6 euros for 2 cables!

hey guys, sorry for the inactivity in the past weeks but i dont have much time for modelling and i build and painted the "garage for my leopard!
i used wood to create something like a fitting for the tracks! when i insert the leopard it cant move to the front / back or the sides! its perfectly fixed what is awesome! there was no need to paint the inside of the box because i will cover it with foam, i have to cut the foam and then fix it with spray glue! one part of the box is for the tank, the other part is for the remote control, batterie chargers, manual, tools etc! hope you like it! i'm very happy with this build!

:jd: Armour isn't my thing but I just had to comment on this. Utterly awesome covers it I think. Does the gun actually fire anything? That would be the icing on the cake.

thanks guys! no the gun doesnt fire bullets. if you fire it recoils. you can mount a battle system with infared sensors. with this battle system you can battle with other tanks =)

today i made some progress. i managed to apply the mud, the tracks are missing but i will do that tomorrow. i have to be careful because this is not a static model, this thing moves so you cant apply mud over the whole tracks. i also added some branches to the camo nets. i painted them but the colour doesnt fit my personal taste. i think i will apply some more paint. well the tank is nearly finished i only have to do a few things. painting the stowage and the figures, adding mud to the tracks, repaint the branches and of course adding pigments and oil, gasoline etc. hope you like it, i love this tank :cheers2:
