Italeri 1/48 Harvard Mk. IIa

Based on Italeri's earlier (2006) release of the North American T-6G Texan which is itself a re-box of Occidental's 1998 release.
Very evocative box art.

Opening the box.
A rather large and impressive decal sheet. Decals are glossy, quite thin and in perfect register as one would expect from Cartograf.
A potted history of the aircraft.
Sprue map and paint call-outs. Looks like a Texan can be built from this kit although after market decals would need to be sourced.
Just six stages in the build. Typical Italeri-style instructions.
A healthy six different schemes.
All the plastic in one bag with the clear sprue separately bagged but still squeezed inside (sigh).
Clear parts look reasonable although the raised cockpit framing has a slightly rough texture.
Just two grey sprues point to a fairly uncomplicated build.
Decent engraving and raised detail where appropriate.
Engine push rods. Could be quite a challenge for this modeller to remove them from the sprue without breakages.
Seats with softly moulded harnesses. I'd think about changing this given the large nature of the canopy.
Cockpit side walls are a fairly blank canvas so plenty of scope for detailing up here although the cockpit tub tubing is present.
Decent engraving on the wings.
A little bit of flash around small details which is understandable for moulds that are nearly twenty years old. Ejection pin marks seem to be ok except on the cockpit sides and on the flaps.
So this looks to be a simple build with scope for super detailing should the modeller wish. A re-box of course but colourful schemes are included on a large and very nice looking decal sheet.
