I will watch along...not my style, but at least it isn't a Revell!!!

I used to think the 109 was the best looking bad ass fighter plane ever and then I built a 262 and it really got under my skin. The more I built it, the more I understood just how amazing it's design was. Sitting in a Hurricane, it must have felt like you were taking on a space ship when a 262 shot past you.

I know you will make a great job of my new favourite fighter.

BTW, are you gonna put props on the 262? or is this in the wrong section?

Watching with great interest, IVe got this kit (plus all the HB 262s) and just started my Dragon U3 version, which I'm building as astraight A1A, Heinz Bar's Red 13.

An interesting challenging kit, nothing really fits, normally I would shake my head and maybe throw against a wall, but this is my favourite WW2 aircraft, so im pushing on!

Sweet build so far. I have been looking at this kit for a quick build in between some lengthier builds that I am doing. Keep up the good work.

Ive just spent an entire morning sanding and filling the fuselage on my Dragon 262. Will probably spend another morning rescribing, and thats before fitting the wings!

Am so looking forward to the Tamiya.

What did you do for your wash...ie dilute the umbre thin in more oil???

so...."oil" paints dilute with mineral spirits, which are just petroleum distillates. i just put a bit in a shot cup, then add a tiny dab of paint and it's magic!

And the model does not need to be clear coated, right???

im having devil of a time sanding and rescribing my Dragon, but perservering. EVERY SINGLE seam needs serious work and rescribing...engines as well...

I like your take on the engines - I used buffable Dark Iron for the nozzles and aluminium for the intake, will hit the nozzle withe some burnt steel pigment when finishing off.

unfortunately he's right - almost all Messerschmitts (109s, 110s etc) had a top/bottom ventral fuselage seam. Its shown in every major reference book (I have almost all of them, Kagero, Osprey, etc etc) but is barely visible under the top camouflage(because it was usually puttied over) so only the bottom seam really needs to be shown for authenticity.

Id be more concerned about the skin wrinkling and of course dropped slats etc for realism - notice how you cant even see the seams on the wings on most of these photos! In fact about the only ones you can see are the gun ports in the nose and thats about it!

Conversely i like the engineering of the open panels because I'll do my Tamiya 262 with open panels - but man I do feel your pain!

The scribing is brilliant - that part of modelling scares me witless. I managed to rescribe the fuselage seams on my Dragon 262, but havent done the nose yet.
