I never use "enamel" washes, but oil washes are almost identical for what we use them for. I always use Weber's Turpenoid. I buy it at my local arts and crafts store.

Great video
Asking a dumb question: what happens if you leave the washes on for longer than 20 min?? Like a day or longer
ie the longer you leave it, the harder to remove??

Nothing happens with the clay based washes, you can remove them anytime, unless you seal them in with a varnish. The. You're screwed.
Oils/enamels you should not leave longer than a few hours or they'll start to cure and then you'll have a problem.

Ok thanks
I have only used oils and freak out a bit when I apply them so probably remove a bit too quickly, but then my auto/plane subjects tend to be less weathered than armour builds so it works out ok.
