Hi there,
This is my first entry in this forum. I started this hobby last summer and enjoying it a lot. It is great relaxation next to my busy life and a always loved planes... much cheaper than a private flight license

I will build the Havilland Vampire Mk6 in Swiss AF colors. It's a resin kit in 1/72 scale by Czech Master Resin. This is going to be my first resin kit, so please bare with me . I know about the hazards of resin... mask on and sanding on the balcony... glad it's almost summer!
I life in Holland but was borne and raised in Switzerland - my homeland

So without further rumbling the pictures of my kit:











The kit is including also quite some PE. So no additional aftermarket needed and will build this OOB.

Started with cleaning up the parts for the cockpit. Tiny but very nice details.

Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of this kit. As I said before I'm new to the hobby and this kit is completely different than the Hasegawas and Tamiyas . I will do my best to do it justice as good as I can

Good luck with the build - Sweden and Switzerland has much in common when it comes to aircraft.

Lol, but I do like the drawing they glued on the box. And your right about the aircrafts. Switzerland is still trying to figure out if they should get the (very nice) Gripen to replace the F-18's

I too have a Czech Master Resin kit in the stash but it doesen't look even close to as good your kit looks.
My kit looks terrible!

I have the CMR 1/72 Fokker C.X (Finnish Version).

Started painting the cockpit and added a lot of tiny PE. I'm happy with the result but the black color scheme will make the interior disappear in the fuselage... hé, I know it's there
Will tone down those blue seatbelts a little bit. It's looking a little bit like a sports car like this. The ejection handles on top of the seat and the head up display will go on later.
I also putted in some weight in de nose and behind the cockpit wall. The instructions don't say how much is needed but I think (mean hope) I'm fine. Pictures

I've wanted to see one of these CMR kits built, I've been tempted to get one but they're very expensive! Looks like they might be worth it though!

Yes they are pretty expensive. I payed €45 for mine...

Thanks . Toned down the seatbelts a little with a brown wash, closed the fuselage and glued the wings on. Starting to look like a bat
Next will be cautious sanding and putting on some black paint to check the seam lines.

nice work in the cockpit mate, beautiful work. will have to pick this one up for my first resin. where did you get it, and what glue did you use?

This is also my first resin kit. De details are amazing but working with the material isn't that nice. One thing is the sanding dust you have to take care of (doing al the sanding outside, lucky it's summer, haha).
The other thing I don't like that much is working with superglue. Not much room to moving pieces in place while gluing. It has to be just right or it's starting over again :-/. I'm using zap-a-gap medium btw.
Let's see how things go on but my next kit will be styrene

Managed to get the tail(s) on. Starting to look like the real thing already . It was quite hard to get everything alined nice. So worked slowly, starting with one tail, then putting the horizontal stabilizer in place to have a guide for the second tail. Had to shorten it by ca. 1mm but it looks fine now.




There are some serious gaps around the intakes I have to take care of. So next step will be filling and sanding, filling, sanding,... boring



And also the shortened tail needs some TLC...

Quite some time since my last update, so here it goes: as pretty much de hole plane will be silver I glued the most parts in place. I put some primer on to see how well I did with sanding. A few more corrections and I'm ready for painting

Thanks Tommy, the details are great indeed for a 1/72 kit. But I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of resin, specially as a hole kit. To much superglue . But luckily most of the building stage is done

A few color splashes and the HUD in place. Ready to close the cockpit

Yeah...a full resin kit...mmmm, different world from styrene.
My favourite Swedish warbird, the FVSS J-22 fighter is only available in a very simple and crude 1/72 kit in plastic.
However there is one kit in 1/48, but its all resin, vac formed canopy etc...so have stayed away.
Just have to muster the guts first...

Excellent work, lots of work and lots of superglue (non forgiving and a pain to sand), well done mate!
Resin kits however usually have great detail, this one is no exception, looks very nice.

Nice work mate, the kits is turning out nicely. Cool fact I found out about the vamp. The tail plane was so close to the exhaust trail of the engine that it actually acted as a crude form of vectored trust!

Hi Patrick, I tried the XTreme metal by AK Interactive. Nice shine to it but it's very smelly. My GF was not amused .

The decals are on... getting close to the finish . I'm glad this part is done! Usually I don't mind working with decals but those were pretty think, glossy and didn't want to stick. Finally got there with a lot of micro sol...

The paint went down really well, It's gonna be a stunner when it's weathered. That resin kit sure seems to be worth the extra effort, with all those tasty details

Thanks guys! Almost finished now (nose weel is missing). I'm glad the cockpit masking turned out well . I weathered the vampire just a little as I know the Swiss really take good care on their military equipment
Friday I'm of for a little Holliday, so final pictures have to wait till I'm back...
