Another Spitfire.

This is about 9pm.

First job was to dip the canopy, wick off excess klear on a piece of kitchen towel and stash safely to dry in an old tin.

And this is where I am now.

Alarm set for 7 am. Enjoying this.

Airfix must be loving you guys! Their factory must be on a war footing! Great stuff.

Cheers Stokesy. Enjoying these new Airfix kits. Loved your Hurricane.

Lunch in the Test Match and so time for an update. The speed of some of the builds is incredible. Not me though, I'm tail-end Charlie but plugging away.

Great kit so far. Think I've used the wrong prop though. Never mind, can always swap it out later but will keep going for now. About 7 hours of build time so far.

Just tidying up this thread.

By Saturday night I'd managed to paint the underside.

Image

I didn't stop to take too many pics as I was up against the clock.

Sunday morning and first camo.

Image

Had the green on by lunch time.

Image

Couple of coats of alclad gloss later and I'm on to the decals. Think the deadline had passed by then hence the bottle of Spitfire (other beers are available).

Image

Another coat of gloss and onto a panel line wash. This was Monday morning but I plodded on.

Image

Annoyingly, I got a bit of silvering on a couple of decals and half of the starboard wing walkway line disappeared.

I had to head down south for a couple of days but I got this finished late Wednesday, only five days after the 48 hour build started!
I'll put the finished pics in the Gallery.
