15mm Battle of Boridino Diorama

Post by gerry7944 »

This is the largest Dio I have ever built and is in 15mm scale.

It is something a bit different and is representative of the Battle of Boridino faught by Napoleon against the Russians in 1812.

There was well over 1500 figures mostly from the Essex, and Old glory ranges of 15mm figures hand painted by me.

All the units and flags had been researched and painted to represent actual units that took part in the epic battle.

The base measured 14ftx6ft and was in my loft.

The terain was all hand made using Woodland scenic products and whatever I could make myself.

This was a long term project and took over ten years.

I never really finished it and when I got back into 1/35 modeling I decided to break it up and sell the figures to finance my new venture.

I enjoyed every minute of this and have no regrets dismantaling it and moving on.

I apologise for the pictures as I had a cheap camera at the time.

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers

Gerry

It did take a number of years.

Not an easy decision to break it up but one I do not regret.

I can't imagine where or how you would store something like that unless you lived in a museum.
It's an epic piece.

I have quite a large loft space which was not being used and with the permision of "She who must be obeyed" I was able to create this.

I have now turned this into my cave and funnily enough the wife calls it "The museum". :th:
