Chiefs 48hr VJ GB P-47 thunderbolt

Post by chief5437 »

Hi guys, here's my entry to the 48hr VJ GB. It was the only P-47 in the shop so I had to settle.

I much prefer the bubble top, but beggars can't be choosers, lol!

Here's what you get for your £9.99...

It's dated 1965, so I don't expect much from it :

Let the games commence :hi:

So, this kit is as bad as it looks, lol!

This is what I got done tonight.

With all the filler that is required, I decided to sand off all the raised detail, rivets everywhere! Not sure it really needed them at this scale anyway, good riddance, lol!

That's it for now, need to be up early in morning, so I'm off to kip.

Thanks for looking guys, :cheers2: :th:

Quick update on progress so far.

Got some primer down, and painted the prop. That's it for now, more later.

Another quick update.

Got the main paintwork done.

Kit only comes with US decals, so I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do for the RAF version.:

Updates are coming thick and fast today!

Found some old wheel masks, so I used them to paint the roundels, was worried they would be off centre, but I think they'll pass.

Last update for today

I scribed some fictitious panel lines into the paint. Been wanting to try this for a while. It was a bit daunting taking a needle to the paint, but nothing ventured, nothing gained! Doesn't look too bad, some more suitable equipment and I think it could be good.

Image

While I was doing the lines, I found that I'd miss-aligned the roundels  can't really tell at first glance, so they'll be left as they are :eeek:
