Hi guys what with the jag winding me up i decided to put it to one side for the moment before i launched it out the widow lol.

I was still in the mood for a jet so it was a toss up between the tomcat or the aardvark after a dry fit of the F111 it was kind of decided for me as the fit was so bad on the Aardvark i cant see it ever getting built while not for a while anyway.

So on with the build


as always we start with the cockpit and to be honest there is some nice detail in there.

Which i duly added some paint to


After picking out some detail and adding some sweet wrappers to the screens here is the cockpit finished



So with the seats in



And in the top of the fuselage


any that's where im at more to follow soon i hope

Love the F-14 will follow this one nice start

Sorry there has not been much of an update on this build but its just been filling sanding then filling and sanding and even more filling then sanding but i got there in the end.

So ive painted the belly of this beast had to wait for more white paint as mine had gone "OFF" so i got some Mr Hobby white and i must say im very impressed with it so this is where we are at the moment.


So thats where i have to leave it for the mo. nozzle on my airbrush broke so waiting for a replacement.

Coming along nicely Nigel. I built the Academy F-15 and whilst it built into a nice looking kit, and the cockpit was nicely detailed. The general fit in places left a lot to be desired. I get the impression this is much the same?

Should be good once built though.

You could say that Gav the top to bottom was ok apart from just behind the cockpit and the engine housing just in front of the fins were the problem areas.

Other than that not to bad at all.

managed to get some colour on the top now.



ive painted the metallic leading edges and cans put forgot to take a photo will do that tonight. also time to start the weathering later so hopefully a new update soon.

This is the same kit as in the Eduard Top Gun special edition right?

No mate thats the Hobby boss one i belive.

Very nice so far, looking forward to seeing it finished. Always been a Tomcat fan myself.

Right on with some weathering i tried the salt chipping method by first putting some salt down then with a lighter coat of the top colour sprayed over it then added some more salt before putting down a darker colour then more salt with the normal camo colour over the top of that.
Once all that was done i clean of the salt. to be left with




Once that was done i smoothed of the paint and missed over the the top colour just to knock it back but i think i have knocked it back too much lol



So that is where im at at the mo.

Hey looking great so far! I'm doing the exact same build at the moment. Word of warning, sand the inner corner of the flaps so that there is clearance on the fuselage when the wings sweep. By the time I had finished the paintwork it had built up enough that when I swept the wings it totally scratched the fuselage paint. Take the time now to increase the clearance.

I think your weathering is just right by the way. Once you spray a matt over the model it will bring it to life!

Just a quick update on the Tomcat. Managed to get the upper surfaces all painted


Also painted the markings on the tail fins as the decals didn't look as if they would fit


Done the cans and the leading edges as well

Just a quick update so i got all the decals on and she is looking good.

Just a quick update guys i got on with some of the weather 1st is of course a wash with Ultimate dark dirt both top and bottom followed by a matt coat before bringing out the oils which i used to give some of the panels a different tone.
