CA glue

I have just thrown away another lot of super glue...I never get my monies worth out of a bottle. Once I open them less than a year and I'm buying more.
It just doesn't last. Feed up every time I want some the damn bottle has gone bad.

Having the same problem here
This last one started hardening around the threads so I don't think it sealed properly. It never let me flow it out the tip which was un-removable, so I opened the whole top. Now the cement is thick and stringy and pretty useless. Maybe the small low volume bottles would be best.
Have not found a brand of CA cement I like yet

My wife got some teeny tiny 'single use' tubes in a packet from wilkinson, she said the cost about 2 quid for a bunch of them

What glue are you using Digger? Bunnings specials or better known brands? I'm keen to find a good CA glue also.

I use the extra thick, mainly for the 20 second dry time, it gives me a chance not to stick to stuff.

I have clipped the tip to give the smallest pour possible but I never apply it directly, I have a roll of cheap masking tape and I take a small section, slap it on the desk, put a bubble of CA on it and then use cocktail (toothpick) stick to apply the CA to the plastic and then chuck out the tape/CA as soon as I'm done (I hate cleaning up, throwing out is easier).

The first bottle I had would dry in the tube all the time and I'd have to drill it out, I've since found it's best to maintain the pressure on the bottle as you turn it right side up again after a pour. Releasing the pressure as the bottle goes from horizontal to vertical helps suck all the glue back out of the tube. With the tube clear of the glue, it can't dry and clog. Also keep and old rag around to give the tip a quick wipe before the cap goes back on and it will always seat right.

well I just threw out some Delux Roket hot and some Loctite. So not the little one shot wonders. The gel type of loctite CA has better life.
The delux roket is such a large bottle (20g)it is very wasteful....cost wise.
I had some Zapp Ca once and that lasted a while. More than these others.


Did some research....if unopened keep in fridge to extend life.....if opened no fridge and your on the clock. Humidity very bad for Ca.
The stuff is made world wide by a limited number of manufacturers and by the time it goes down the supply chain half it's life expectancy is gone.
Life expectancy from time a batch is made up is 2 years.
It has been watered down in recent years....too many people gluing spitfires to there foreheads .

Me too although I got maybe 7months. I bought the gel at the same time and that is still OK although using the delux ..tricky stick primer it sets almost instant.
The gel is a bit thick for any fine work.
I think it depends how long it has been sitting on the shelf, warehouse or where it traveled from.
BUT although your stuff says it is water proof or such.....water makes the stuff go off very fast. Uv light also. I keep mine in a drawer.

Not all CA bottles are made equally. If you can find a bottle of CA that is intended for gluing rubber tires to rims for RC cars, often called "tire glue" within that industry, those bottles are very reliable and can be refilled with Bob Smith or whatever. In fact, Bob Smith Industries sells a bottle of "tire glue". That's the style of bottle that works really well. They have a pin in the cap, they seal air-tight, etc. I have a bottle of glue from AKA Tires that is 3 years old and has been re-filled numerous times.
