Fairey Swordfish MK1

Post by arkbuilder2012 »

Trying my hand with the Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish. Planning on doing one of the AC used during the Taranto Raid, probably one from 819 Sq which was fitted with bombs, flares and 60 gal fuel tank slung underneath.

Working to eliminate the seams where the supports slot into the upper wing.

This is the ordnance I plan on using. 250lbs bombs and aerial flares. The actual plane supposedly carried 16 flares but I can't figure out how they carried that many, so I'll just go with 8. Everything will get a light wash of smoke to tone it down a bit.

Did a bit of painting and sprayed the lowers Sky Grey and playing on the upper pattern with a home brew Dark Slate Grey. The lower wing will be counter shaded. That will be it for a couple of weeks - going to the beach with my dog for a long vacation.
