*** FINISHED - Academy 1/48 F-14 Tomcat

Hi all, this is my first decent build since getting back into modelling this year. I did a couple of 1/72nd aircraft to brush up on my skills but I've always been a fan of the F-14 so I thought I'd make it my first build that I take photos of. Anyway, might be a few inaccuracies, but enjoy!

Thanks Tommy, it's great to be back. Modelling has certainly come a long in the 20 years I've been out! The techniques are amazing now and the paints and effects are incredible. This forum has given me so many ideas and inspiration for future projects!

That is one good looking Tomcat
It is one of my favorite planes
I like the paintwork and the panel lines came out pretty nice
If i may suggest 1 thing though
You could start a photobucket account
If you use that you can put much more pictures in one post
If you use attachment you are limited to 3 photo's for each post
It is more user friendly for your own use and you don't have to worry about the size of the picture as it will be sized automaticly
But that is just my thought
The build looks good though so keep up the good work

I sprayed the entire model with Vallejo Model Air and a bit of Tamiya Acrylics. Then I gloss coated in Alclad II Klear Kote Gloss for the decals. After that another coat of Klear Kote to seal in the decals and then I actually spray a coat of Humbrol Acrylic Clear because it stands up to the enamel pin wash better than the Klear Kote. Next time I think I'll probably just use the Humbrol Acrylic and forget about the Klear Kote because it's a lot of mucking around between enamels and acrylics.
For the final matt coat I use Tamiya flat clear because I like level of flatness it produces. I'm going use Alclad II metals on the burner cans and exhaust shrouds and that will finish it off. I generally come back with a bit of semi-gloss clear here and there for things like the tyres and missile tips just to add a bit of realism.
