Thanks, yeah that MAFVA site is really useful. I'm doing a halftrack and a Panzer IIf in June 1942 at Gazala. From what can gather that would be a transition period for paint / camo schemes so I'm doing the Pz II in RAL 8020 with RAL 7021 underneath that will be revealed by the chipping and the halftrack will be RAL 8000 with some RAL 7027. I've gone for Lifecolor paints and I really like the 8020. The 7021 is very dark, almost black though. Also got the Lifecolor British colours to do a 2 pdr gun and a truck. I will have to tweak the uniform colours though as I'm trying to do South African gunners. Cant find anything on South African gun / vehicle colours so going to assume they used British colours as they were under 8th army command.AgentG wrote:Thank you sir.
Those are Tamiya mixes loosely based on Mike Starmers excellent research.
RAL 7027, the base coat, is a mix of Tamiya Buff 50%, Flesh 30% and Deck Tan 20%. I added a few drops of white for scale and fade.
RAL 8020 is the same as my 7027, but with a drop or two of Khaki in the it. I think it's too green so I am currently mixing another more brown/gray shade.
