A Tamiya Nashorn with a Bronco 25 pounder crew.

"On 4 January 1945, to the north of Ravenna (Italy), soldiers of the Canadian Seaforth Highlanders Regiment captured a Nashorn self-propelled gun. The Canadian Nashorn bombarded German positions near Faenza on 24 February 1945. Another vehicle of this type was seized by Allied troops near Alleate (February 22, 1945). The Allied forces also captured a few more Nashorns abandoned after the destruction of bridges on the Senio and Po rivers.

Besides surrender, the worst thing in war is to have your own weapons used against you. Excellent build.

Hi Forbes, fantastic job. My Nashorn arrived in the post this week. What are your impressions of the kit having completed it?

It a good kit. It's a Tamiya and it's new. This is the second time I've built it at I've had two minor problems both times (1) the end of the intake grill doesn't quite fit into it's spot in the lower hull (step 18, the rear portion of F23(s) into C23) just sand a the sharp corner a little until it fits. (2) The side mounted periscopes (F18) don't won't to fit in their holders without snapping the holders (E38,E39) if you put a big drop of Tamiya Extra Thin in the elbow of the holders it will soften they enough to pry then open without breaking so you can get the periscopes in and then get the holder back into shape before the glue dries.
Other than that you'll need a plan for painting,the same as any open top vehicle.

I've shown it a few times, the first was in the video review of "Tank Power" and I said I'd build it (after a Panzerjager Abteilung 88/Helmut Schiebel Nashorn), this one was very much on the back burner but then Panzermiester36 decided to start a captured vehicle GB and that put a fire under my ass....

I love seeing these odd subjects! Great work

Mate, nicely done.
Especially love the details on the Canadian soldiers. As a person of German descent it pains me to see Canada in very large letters (LOL) on the side but hey it did happen.
How did you find the kit? I have it in my stash but it is a way off I think - the Nash is just a great vehicle

It's what you expect from a Tamiya, everything fits (mostly, see above), no real grief. I've seen a comparison review with the AFVClub Nashorn and the Tamiya was the better of the two. I've seen the reviews of the Dragon Nashorns and know they would cause me fits if not a full on stroke.
