Fitting propellers...

I've returned to the hobby after many years and I've been watching lots of great videos showing techniques etc. One thing I've noticed is that many of these videos show the models being constructed and painted before the propellers are fitted. And I would guess the instructions would have said to fit the propellers before the fuselage halves were glued together. Once the fuselage halves are glued together I can't see how the propellers can be fitted and still turn.

Am I missing some technique here or is it generally done now that propellers are just glued on and do not turn?

Glued on and not turning. It's a lot easier to airbrush a prop aircraft without the prop on. If you want to have the prop turn then that's no problem, just follow the instructions.

It really depends on the kit as well. Tamiya's 1/48 Spitfire Mk I has the prop just slide in at the end. It is easier to paint while it is off, you'll just have to plan it out. I rarely follow the directions to the letter.
