Tamiya BMW r75 w/sidecar

Some background. I bought this kit when making bulk purchase and figure that for €6 I might as well buy it. Principal purpose was to try some serious weathering, pigments and dust effects.

Kit itself is Tamiya's 70s kit with all that means. It's basic and requires some serious upgrades.

Initial steps



Once there I started weathering. I applied liberal ammounts of AK Interactive pigments and dust paint, drybrushed alumium paint to get exposed, worn metal look. Added wires for breaks and other cables and gave engine grimy and oily look. A touch of rust here and there







Since I decided to go for dusty look I figured crew would wear scarves over face so I used some tisue paper and coated it with diluted white glue



By then the concept has evolved into checkpoint scenario so some barrier was needed. I was going for more improvised setting so I opted for knife rest/spanish rider. Scratch built from balsa wood and scratch build barb wire



Feldgendarmerie figures I got on eBay for low price. Later I realised they are probably so cheap because they appear to be knock offs as I've seen figures that look suspiciously similar. Warning: faces have always been my weak spot, as is good shading, so.......



Next was dio base. I got MiniArt and basicaly made a pig breakfast out of it. expletive deleted vacuform Anyway, I was able to use base and lamp and had to replace wall with rubble. Base was spray painted and given a dark wash (too dark but it was only one I could use), figures placed and voila! It's simple, spartan.

So here it is. The finished product. Not up to standards of what people here make but I'm modestly satisfied with it. As I've said, primary a learning kit and I did learn some things I'll apply in future projects
