I think there's still time to get some builds in on this SIG!

I have Bandai kits, and I've already built a number of them, which I will show at the end. One of the great characters to come from the Star Wars theme is the most notorious Bounty Hunter in the galaxy, Boba Fett. I built the Bandai kit of Boba Fett in 1/12th scale today. I took me about 4-hours and I had a blast. Just the right amount of fiddly bits and easy assembly to make for a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing build. Perfect for mojo recovery!

One thing to keep in mind when building these wonderful kits. They are nearly snap tight fits in almost all joins and very little use for plastic cements. Also, the instructions are thankfully very simplistic diagrams, since all of the writing on the instructions - and I mean all of the writing, is in Japanese. I am not fluent in reading or speaking Japanese.

I tried to capture the simple way Bandai has you assemble the character model by taking shots of parts before and after assembly. Yes, for this type of model and to build it, you are an Assembler, not a modeler. However, there is still much to do to Boba Fett to make him come alive, including the decals and weathering.

Great kits. Great fun to build. Highly recommended.

The head was first, then the torso, followed by the legs, arms, and finally the accessories.

Very tight seams are an excellent feature of these kits

Front and back come together flawlessly.

A few more bits and we start to see someone we recognize.

On to the torso.

Keep this in mind...most of the joins you see pictured are pressed fits.

Uh oh - I think it's starting to really look like Boba Fett now. What fun!

Image

Right and leg legs are assembled in identical fashion. I chose to show only one being build - the Right Leg

And when they are all together, the two little bits that go on the knee guards is where I used glue.

Image

Image

Hip, leg, and foot - all ready to be snapped together. The left one was identical to put together.

Image

Reminds me of a saying..."busier than a one legged man in an ass kickin' contest"

Image

And through he magic of the forum...here he is with both legs attached.

Image

A few accessories as any well respected bounty hunter would have of course.

Image

A couple pouches and such.

Image

Image

Down the stretch...on to the arms.

Image

Image

Such excellent engineering.

Right arm

Image

Left arm assembly was identical.

May I introduce Boba Fett

Image

Still needs his rocket pack of course.

Nice cape

Image

And...build is finished.

Image

I like it very much. Still to come? Decals and some weathering, chipping, something...

Anyway, thanks for looking.

And as promised...here are the other Bandai kits completed in just the last month or two.

These kits are great fun and can easily be put together in less than a day.

Epic builds!
Does Boba break down into sub-assemblies if one decided to actually paint him?

He sure does. Everything is meant to press together...no glue unless you want it.
