Hello from a Chicagoan in Los Angeles

Hi all!
My name is Alex, I just turned 30, and I'm currently living in Los Angeles, though I grew up in Chicago (where I'm currently visiting family for Thanksgiving). I must admit that model building is a secondary hobby for me. My primary passions in terms of pastimes are history and aviation (esp. flight sims). I have a blog devoted to the former and YouTube/Twitch channels for the latter (see my profile for links if those kinds of things interest you
).
But I do dabble in modeling. Honestly, I think I've watched more modeling videos than I have spent time modeling myself. I think the modeling community on YouTube is fantastic, and I've learned a lot from them (not to mention hearing about this forum). When I do model in my absolutely amateur way (I don't even have an airbrush yet) I build ships and aircraft from WWI and WWII, as well as dabbling (hopefully in the future) in wooden ship modeling. I get intimidated by the fine details of projects (e.g. sanding/filling awkward seams esp. on WWII aircraft; layering paint schemes on aircraft; fixing mistakes) but I'm learning and building confidence slowly as I build.
That's enough about me. Thanks for creating this great forum, and I hope to talk to you guys soon!
