Hi fellas,

As the title suggests, I'm off to NY for the new year, and was wondering if anyone knows of any model shops there? I found a couple on Google, but they don't have very good reviews!!

I've been the former, not the latter one.

Red Caboose is literally a cramped floor to ceiling dusty basement model shop down some creaky stairs inside the building's lobby. The owner/manager can talk your ear off if you get in a conversation with him. Lots of older kits; all different types of subjects. They have paints and other supplies too. The prices reflect it's location in midtown Manhattan.

Don't know of any other real model shops in NYC proper. All the ones I knew years ago have long since gone.

Michale's arts and craft stores carry a handful of Revell kits, and a decent range of Testors paints. Good place to find stuff for scratch building. They have several locations: http://www.michaels.com/store-locator

Outside of NYC, you also have the Hobby Lobby chain of store: http://www.hobbylobby.com/store-finder
Similar to Michael's above but have a larger model selection from what I understand, but probably not the latest and greatest of kits.

If willing to travel outside of NYC, some searching might find a few real mom and pop model shop hidden away somewhere.
