A pair of Airfix Ford Fiesta WRC's

Post by Rallychef »

Well my build rate is truly glacial recently, having only completed 1 model in the past two years, lack of motivation and a return to further education being partially to blame for my lack of builds.
However I received a pair of 1/32 Airfix Fiesta World Rally cars by courier earlier this week with a note asking if I could build them. I should explain at this point, I do a little part time work for the actual Rally Team, and the request was from someone senior in the team, to add to the pressure it needs to be delivered to workshops on the evening of 22nd Dec...............looks like my motivation has returned!!!!!

Well there is nothing like a deadline to get you motivated, a couple of days in sees everything primed, body painted, wheels painted, and much of the black parts done

so far so good.

Thanks Scott, amazing how much a deadline can inspire a build, cracking along nicely now, the build itself is fairly straight forward but I spent last night and this morning in the decals, I have to say they are superb quality, but are very delicate and need a fair bit if skill and patients to apply (as well as a fair bit of micro set & sol). I am a little worried that airfix market one of the sets as a starter kit and the complex decals may put off a newcomer to the hobby.

However I am pleased with the progress

I am used to working in the larger 1/24 scale but we are getting there.

Onwards to the Checkered Flag

All done and dusted, really pleased with the results. They will be returning to their spiritual home tonight, at the workshops where their 1:1 scale counterparts are built, here in the Lake District and presented to their new owner. I will try and get some pictures in the workshops before our Xmas meal.

Glad to finally get a couple of kits finished, the deadline is a great motivator. I have a couple of the Belkit Fiestas to build (1/24) I could be tempted in the new year.

Seasonal greetings everyone
