[Finished] IS-3 & Soviet Sniper Team Diorama in 1/72

Post by timtamtung »

This will be my small entry into this GB, hoping it would be a cracker :th:
I really love russian tanks and this will be my first IS3....and in 1/72 scale!

While waiting for the kits to arrive (this morning), I started on the Resin dio base and primed it black.

The Black dog resin base & unstarted kits! The IS3 looks quite good too.
There's a review on YT below.

Not the best of quality from Roden. Sprue joints were bit too big but it should turn out ok after paint and weathering.

Well this was one ass of a kit. Yeah it retains the IS-3 shape and has some minor details which aint bad... but the fit and build was horrid :ooops:

Still, resembles the IS-3 and can't wait to start painting and weathering...(to hide the imperfections)

I like the idea for the diorama. Nice work on that marginal Js2 kit. Cool diorama base. Curious to see the snipers done. Keep having fun.

Thanks Bill. Can someone explain to me why sometimes it's called IS3 vs JS3?

Js-2 is the Anglo for Joseph Stalin 2.
Is-2 is the transliteration of the Cyrillic spelling of Joseph....pronounced...."Eoseph".
I think...hahaha.

Ahh thanks now I understand the IS vs JS.

The IS-3 is fully painted and lightly weathered. I like it now

The resin base is completed. Painted, drybrushed and light washes to bring it all together.
Now for the figures and a stand and this scene should be done. End is in sight!

That turned out great! I really admire modelers who build 1/72 armour! My eyesight is so bad (even with glasses!) that it wouldn't make sense for me to try it. Beautiful. mate! :) Greetz from Germany. Jens

Fantastic finish on the diorama. The Stalin tank turned out great. Awesome paint work on the figures. Love the resin base. Top marks all around.
