Hi Guys I am going to build the Academy MIG-29UB Fulcrum B model in 1/48 Kit this is going to be my first Group Build I have done since joining the ISM Forum.
The MIG-29UB Fulcrum B is flown by the former nations of the USSR Plus India, Syria, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Germany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, North Korea, The Czech Republic, Slovakia and Cuba the MIG-29UM is not only a two-seater Trainer, but is fully combat effective as well. The two-seat version does not carry the chaff dispensers or the pulse Doppler radar found on the single seat fighters, but otherwise is fully armed and equipped with a full complement of combat avionics. Generally, each squadron of MIG-29 fighters has two to four trainer versions for pilot and/or combat weapons Training, The Instructor sits in the rear, elevated ejection seat for pilot training, evolution or weapons proficiency rating.
Designed at the same time as the MIG-29A, It is Estimated that over 250 of the two-seat version  have been built and entered operational status. Well over 1000 MIG-29’s of all types have been manufactured and are still being made to this day, Fully equal to the f-15 or f-18 in performance, the MIG has added strength of its quick and easy maintenance. Five Mechanics can remove, replace and test an engine  under field conditions in less than an hour! In this day of super-sophisticated engineering, the simplicity of the MIG design ensures that it will be a very important combat airplane well into the 21st century.

This kit was in the stash and I thought I would build it for my first group build

After a careful look and consideration about the build and how I wanted to building it. The cockpit tub and the instrument panel offers good detail but the seats let the cockpit down so I have decided to go for a pair of after market seats by True Details Soviet K-36DM x 2 For all modern Russian aircraft Mikoyan MiG-29. so I will wait for them to arrive before making a start on the kit

That is one nice looking aircraft.

I am looking forward to doing my first group build on the forum i am hoping to start it this weekend that's if me after market seats arrive. i am also looking to do a bit of work on me man cave/ corner just to give me abit more room for making them.

These are the after market seats I decided to use
I Think these will add that finishing touch to the cockpit.

I decided to start with the after market seat I did this by cutting the resin blocks from the seats and mounting them on to paint pots to make them easier to hold when painting. so I started buy painting the seats with Tamiya Nato Black


After the Nato Black had dried I then used a Grey to start paint the harnesses on the seats

After the grey had dried on the seat harness I started to pic out the details and finished it of with a bit of black pigment
this is how the seats turned out and I am really happy at how they have turned out

after I had finished the seats I started working on the cockpit tub and instrument panels I started by removing them from the sprue and cleaned the tabs up

after I had cleaned the tabs up I started by painting it with the base grey what was Vallejo Model Color 70.870 Medium Sea Grey what matches the cockpit colour
and when the base colour had dried I dried brushed the detail with black and picked out detail with different colours

this how they turned I think I have done a good job now it was time to start looking at the main plane

i Started to look at the front of the plane i had a bit of time to think of about the air intakes on the top of the aircraft as you an see bellow

I decided to go with the open onebut i have decied to open them up.

so i started too remove the rest of the cockpit and the opened air intakes and cleaned them up

This is the cockpit part removed and cleaned up from the sprue i think it has got really good detail and panel lines

and then i started working on the air intakes for the top of the air intakes i used a razor saw to remove plastic in between the open vents this is a photo of the working progress of it.
this took me a while as i did not want to break the part while i was cutting it the centres out.

Some good work going on there.

Looking good. The diverters look really good with photo etch. I will be watching with interest.

Thanks guys really enjoying it now i have started it took me a while to get going but now i have it is a very enjoyable build.

After I had cut the top air in takes out I stuck them in to the top part of the cockpit
i am really happy how this turned out after these have dried i started to paint the top of the cockpit and i looks ace

after had painted it and was just about to stick it in i realised it need to be black at the front where the hud was.
