Wine or water lads ?

Post by burnie43 »

Here is my latest effort, I have tried to create a wee story with Michael Wittmann in Italy from a book that I have just read...
I couldn't get to grips with building the feifel filter hoses so I covered them with a tarp to hide the awful result!!!
I used Mig Ammo paint cause I like the colours but I made a mess of adding the cammo so I had to re do that bit..... ( back to Tamiya paints for me )
I really enjoyed this though, sorry about the poor pictures but hey ho, it's done now !

built and ready for the paint

painted with post and pre shading done

farmhouse ready for painting

figures primed and painting in progress
Image
cammo on...twice ! notice the home made tarp covering my bad building of the filters !

oil paint rendering begins
Image
the wee hoose painted....now for the shutters
Image
The hoose only came with 2 walls so I wanted to blank the back while keeping it a bit rustic looking but not as part of the model scene
Image
oils on to give it that " lived in" look I used pigments etc for the weathering
Image
a few pins and some glue sets the house on the base.....the books come in handy too !
Image
cat litter as the gravel
Image
the final scene

It is meant to represent Michael Wittmann and crew refueling with the old farmer tempting them into a break !

That's it....I am very happy with this one, my building is not the best but I really enjoy the painting and weathering plus the adding of wee bits and bobs to tell this story.
And then by accident my hand hit the model and destroyed the back end of it...yep, the one part of the build that I couldn't get to grips with and I have to re-do it all again ! lol
Thanks for viewing this guys.

Used that very same kit to build that very same tank last year.
Did the parmesan cheese incident. ;)
You did a fine job there Mark. Lots and lots of good work there.
Well done.

Thanks Smiffy, Paul and (Coen) I saw your build and I loved it, I had 2 of these kits as I have a serious man crush admiration thing going on with Wittmann sonce my Narmandy visit a number of years ago..... I just started building and here's where it took me, I am now looking at the Easter front and Normandy Campaigns so who knows what's next ..........but to all members of ISM I thank you for your inspiration !
Cheers

note to self.......improve the pictures and don't break the model once it's complete !!!

Looks bloody fantastic I reckon! I've got this kit as well but I've never attempted armour so I'll leave it sit a bit until I can do it justice.

Again I love the diorama......top work!
