The Itch won't go away !

Post by burnie43 »

So I've been getting stuck into the Tamiya Nashorn and Trumpeter AS-90 kits ( pics once when completed ) both are painted and I'm cracking on with the weathering but for days now I have had it..........yep, the itch to start another kit !!!!
Now I have been like this since I can remember and generally always when I'm at this stage in my builds so a few months ago I made the decision that I was not gonna start one till I finished one...................BUT I HAVE CRACKED !!! ( Hey, I'm a man so I'm weak ) I'm off to rummage round my stash and see what picks me !!! cause they usually pick me !!
Anyone else find this an enjoyable problem ????

Cheers

Yes! About half way through any build when the kit you are doing is spread around the desk in various stages of paint and construction I have the urge to open sprue bags of pristine plastic. Luckily I can resist but I understand your pain.

The itch that won't go away... fibre glass pencil dust, epoxy resin dust or glue.
On bench: nothing, it's all hidden so the wife doesn't see it or the cats mess it up!!
Current "Black" projects include: Sci-fi kits and 1:35 tanks.

No what you mean Mark and what can make it even worse is that you have created a gap in the stash. You then have to go out and buy another kit to fill the hole.

I'm sure I get as much pleasure getting a box with new kits in it from the postie as I do building them. Then there's that once only moment where you open the box for that first look inside. I reckon it must be the same as women and shoes.

Yes, buy another kit .......or 10 to fill that void
I get fed up with a build as it nears the end , sick if looking at it, so my eyes wander to other kits
Doing more than one at a time seems to help a bit for me

I share your pain Mark. I find the excitement of deciding which kit to start next an amazing buzz. Reviewing all of the kits in the stash and imaging what they'll be like to put together is a joy - oh I forgot to mention the added excitement of what extra "bits" I must have to make the new build a success

Yes yes yes....it's not just me...... and now I have to fill the gap, oh and buy more paint, oh and what about this and that.....it is a disease for sure but one that only modellers can understand,
I have found the trick for me is to open a new one ONLY when I am at the weathering stage of the other.....that way I get to use paint and glue .....!
Thanks for the chat guys
