1/48 Academy F-16C "Flying Razorbacks"

1/48 Academy F-16C Fighting Falcon "Flying razorbacks"
I thought that I would join in on my first build with in ISM.
I will be building the F-16C hit that I have. I personal cannot look at a f-16 without hearing the song be queen, One vision from the film Iron Eagle. The whole sound track was brill. I loved that film when I was younger. Still a good film now to be fair. This is the only reason I bought the kit a while back.

Any how this is what the real aircraft looked like from the razorbacks.

The kit will be built OOB; I will also try to put it onto a small airfield framed diorama. The aircraft will be painted using Tamiya paints:

To start with the cockpit area is worked on. The parts are removed and cleaned.

Once the decals have conformed and dried it will then get a wash.

The pilot has had a wash of Nuln oil from citadel. The rest of the paints were Tamiya.

Those gaps are something else, aren't they! I'm building the same kit and had the same problem. I got the gaps pretty well cleaned up but they are still visible. Good luck! :th:

So back at it today. Im going to be using the Vallejo Water based filler as I don't want to damage any panel lines around the wing joints.
Image
And underneath.
Image
So again using a dampened cotton bud I wiped across the join so as to leave the filler in the gap but remove the excess.
Image
Image
Image
Next the tail is fitted.
Image
And filled, of course.
Image
And the side area.
Image
Image
Next I started on the engine intake area which due to the lack of any locating pins was a pain to line up. A few pegs held it till it dried.
Image
Armament put together while I waited for the Intake to dry.
Image
Then back to the filler.
Image
Image
I have used Mr Surfacer on this lot, so I have a bit of sanding to do next. I have been looking for the new version of the filling tutorial but can only find the old one. I have watched the new sanding one though.
Image
So in the morning this lot will be sanded.
Got the sanding done.
Weapons.
Image
Aircraft.
Image
But I am at a lost as of what to do about these gaps:
Image
Image
Surely they aren't supposed to be there.
Image
Anyway ready to mask the canopy.
Image
Image
Image
That should hold it.
Ok now while the canopy dries ill sort out the under carriage and weapon pillions.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Then I made a start on the engine nozzle.
Image
Image
I have painted it more silver but forgot to take a photo so youll have to wait till the next update.
Thanks for looking.

Time to move on to this. Wheels were added and I think thats the basic plane finished.
Image
Image
Next to grey primer.
Image
That's the plane primed.
Image
Tomorrow I hope to try and get some pre shading with black stynylrez primer then colour some panel with the white and maybe the other colours to see what that does to the top coats. Will have to see how brave I am as I haven't even tried pre-shading the panel lines before.

Looking really nice! That kit looks like a lot of fill work. You've done well!

So Got some more done today. I have used the black Stynylrez primer to do the panel line shading. This is the first time I have tried panel pre shading as I am normally a bit heavy on the paint. Let's see if anything shows through later.
Image
A few splodges. I remember somebody saying it shouldn't look neat and tidy for a better out come. That's lucky then.
I then used the white to add some fading.
Image
Image
Image
Hopefully get the first colour down later. I intend to start with the light colour at the front then work my way back as it gets darker.
Cheers for looking and all the good comments.
