Harder to find extra thin.

Post by MNO »

I live on in Denver co and have found that getting or even finding tamiya extra thin is harder and harder. Anyone else finding this also? Everyone I have talked to says its on back order but nobody knows why.

I bought my last bottle at my local Hobby Lobby while buying a paint brush.. A bit pricey there but if it's all I needed so no shipping.

I bought the last one at my LHS in January and either they sell like hotcakes or they haven't restocked since when I go back every fortnight or so.

Plenty in UK; maybe just a delivery glitch to the States?

I talked to a guy that owns a local store in Oak Creek (Milwaukee area) and he told me he couldn't get the stuff lately. I find this odd as I can order it from Tokyo Hobby on ebay for quite cheap.

Do Canada and the U.S. share the same importer? No problem I'm aware of getting any Tamiya products up here.

I'm sure they use the same set of importers, but maybe it's the differences in customs regulation that are to blame. I can still order it offline easily enough, but I like to support my local shops whenever possible.

And I gives me an excuse to go in for glue and come out with paints and kits as well...

I can find it online as well. But the shipping is what kills me. By the time it ends up at the front door it's almost the cost of two bottles. I'm thinking of using some plastic weld. Or some deluxe glues.

Borgflehd (sp?) out of Markham has been the exclusive distributor for Tamiya in Canada since at least 1985, probably long before that.

I had no problem finding it in the on-line hobby shops after doing a search. There isn't a LHS by me so I purchase just about everything on line that I can't get from Hobby Lobby. So I don't know if the LHS prices are cheaper.

I've never used TET before and have my first bottle on order from Amazon. For a long time I have used TENAX 7r. From what I read about TET, TENAX 7r seems to be very similar. Extremely hot cement. I can get this locally. The only draw back is that you need to use your own brush. I usually just buy a bunch of those cheap throw away brushes the kind like you get in kits that come with paints. It flows easily through capillary action as one would want.
