Colour for U.S. Armour

I have just started building the Dragon M4A3E8 "Thunderbolt VII", which is my first U.S. armour build and I am a little confused over the colours quoted. I thought the main colour would be Olive Drab but they call out for Mr. Hobby Khaki Drab is this Mr. Hobbys' version of Olive Drab? Was this tank a slightly different colour? Or is it just that Mr. Hobby don't do the exact colour which would be a bit of a large hole in their paint range. I realise this is probably obvious to you guys but I like the Mr. Hobby paints but I have to order on-line (living in the arse-end of the universe without a decent model shop for miles) and I don't want to get the wrong colour, thanks.

I have the same problem, my LHS is a two hour round trip for me. I order everything online these days except for the extremely rare days I happen to be in the city.
If you aren't too picky on the very old argument on who makes the best us olive drab, then any of the paint manufacturers will do. Mr Hobby I couldn't speak for as I can't get that here with out selling one of my kids.
Far to expensive, so I can't comment on their colour system.
I know khaki drab and olive drag are different colours and Creightons easy eight was just a standard us olive drab colour.
I think that khaki would be too far off the mark.

my impression was that they are one of the cheapest to buy, around $1.50US per bottle...same price as Tamiya...online

Not so much in Canada. Just finding them here is an epic tale. I have to order them from the us or Asia. The shipping makes them cost more than I really want to pay.
It's cheaper for me to buy a box of ammo than two or three bottles of mr hobby.

Tamiya Olive drab, highlight 50/50 olive drab/deck tan. Khaki drab for the running gear.
I also like Mig ammo with lots of olive drab modulation. No experience with Mr Hobby

Thanks to everyone for the help and advice it's really appreciated. I will go with olive drab and see about one of the modulation kits that are kicking about.

I have a Toyland shop which is a 2hr round trip which stocks very little. It has airfix and revel airplanes in 1/72 some tamiya and humbrol paints and very little else. They never have what I want, ask for any tet and you will get a blank stare. Next best option is Perth, but at a 950km round trip....not an option plus most expensive place for kits in Australia.
Upshot is I source everything online with majority coming from Asia...recently order Testors dulcote an Walther's Solvaset from Canada can you believe
it. Because Solvaset is un procurable here and dulcote at BNA is sold out for who knows how long and might as well get full use of the freight componet. BNA is an 8000km round trip.
I odered through Canadian Express for the first time, I do hope they are OK. I haven't heard a peep from them.

I do find when ordering stuff from Asia to keep the weight down to 1.2kg and send by sea the freight cost is managable. Just have to wait for about 6 weeks for deliveries. So I try to order ahead and have stuff onhand mostly. Sealmodels have the cheapest paint currently.



PS... a set of lifecolor, ammo or ak will cost me the almost the same as buying the bottle seperate....small difference.

Why don't you mix your own olive drab, It's only yellow and black mixed together, (black has a lot of blue in it, and as we all know yellow and blue make green) then you can make your own colour to what you like>
