Airfix 1/72 Hawker Typhoon

Post by PrivateMansoor »

I am building the Airfix 1/72 Hawker Typhoon.

Kit Details

Airfix 1/72 Hawker Typhoon IB
Kit No: A02041
Year of release: 2013 - As a New Tool
Scalemates link: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/173943- ... typhoon-ib

Th kit will be brush painted. I will attempt to hand paint the camouflage scheme, using a flat headed brush. It will be painted using Tamiya and Humbrol enamel paints. The cockpit canopy will be painted using Tamiya Acrylics.

It will be built out of the box with only photo etch seatbelts being used on the seat.

Here are some pictures of the kit:

More work done

The camo scheme was hand painted on

Work then began on the propeller

The paint was touched up and propeller, part of landing gear and side guns attached

Wheels done up, attached but not yet glued on. Decals were then applied

Still work to do.

I will wait for the paint to dry, then gloss coat it, conduct weathering. The landing gear will be attached at the end, along with some finicky parts. The canopy still needs to be painted as well.

I love these aircraft, really nice model mate. I wish someone would get a real one flying I think there's only one complete aircraft in the world in the RAF collection at Hendon which is on loan to Canada I believe.

Thanks Kevthemodeller
This kit in particular is a very nice kit, it is one of Airfix's new molds, all of which I think are great.
