I remember a time.... long ago.... when I was young..... that CA glue was also known as "superglue". Known to be very dangerous, because it would glue everything, including your fingers, together within a second. What happened to that kind off glue..?

I've got me some Zap a Gap here, the thin, the medium and yes even the thick one. Now, in the beginning it was working like it should. But after using not even half off the botle, it stopped glueing suddenly...
I don't understand... Can it go bad or something?

Same thing happens to mine, that's why I buy the smallest bottle I can. Don't know if it goes off but it certainly seems to loose it's 'grab'.

CA glue does "go off" when exposed to air and warm temps for long periods of time. That's why I keep mine in the fridge.

I've been using Bob smith industries extra thick CA for a few years now and it's never disappointed... Yet.
I go through a 2oz bottle in about six months or so. I use it a lot though.
Very handy stuff.
I've never had or heard of it going bad.

If you have a pin vise, try drilling down the tube, that's where you'll get clogs. Be quick or you risk glueing the drill bit in there. Any CA that you get on the bit can be burned off with a lighter or candle, but do it outside or in a well ventilated area.

In the total time I've been using CA glue I think that I throw away around 80-90% of the glue I buy due to it drying out. Most kits I make require zero (gunpla) or very little (photo etch parts) at a time. The good thing is that recently I was able to find 0.5g tubes of CA glue (local brand Mighty Bond) that comes in packs of 6. A few months ago I've purchased the tamiya single use CA glue that comes in small detachable capsules but I have yet to try them since I'm on a scale model hiatus.

Be careful with the Tamiya one , I opened one used it twice , went to use it again about two weeks later, solid lump , straight in the bin , now only by cheap ones , doesn't hurt the pocket as much

It's not blocked, it just won't grab anymore.

Thanks, I'm going to look into that.

Just found a shop in the Netherlands who sells this, so I just ordered a bottle.
Was somewhat hard to find overhere, but with the Americans charging around 19 euro's postage(!!!) , it's worth searching for a while...

Are you talking about the CA glue with the dispenser or the tear off single use CA glue? I wouldn't use the single use CA glue for more than an hour or so.

Hi , it's the one inside the dispenser , where you take it apart , open sachet with glue cartridge in , re assemble then use
Still got one , waiting until I start my 1/16 King Tiger before I'll use it

Yeah that one with the dispenser still dries up which is why they provided an extra pipette for changing the cartridge.Basically it's just selling the mechanism of applying glue.

Ca glue has a definite shelf which can be extened by string in a fridge. Even if the bottle has never been opened it still has a use by date and if it has been sitting on the shelves for 6 months and previously in a whole salers yard for 6 months then it is almost dead. Open the bottle and expose it to a little humidity and lots of heat in Malaysia as well. Then it doesn't last long when the poor old modeler gets it.

Ca glue is manufactered in batches and only by a very factories in the world. Then poured off to who ever wants it, Tamiya doesn't manufacture Ca glue.
So this whole distribution of a batch can be quick or very long depending on when these 3 parties need a new batch.
So Ca glue is best bought from those which have the biggest turn over.

I'm doing PE for the first time and getting along ok but for the CA bottle the poxy thing keeps blocking bloody annoying

I've not worked with CA in this way i.e. constant use for an hour or so, what's the trick or is there a particular CA to use?

Care to elaborate on where you found it in The Netherlands As I'm always running out of good CA glue, And ordering Tamiya quick type from Poland all the time is a bit over the top..
