1/48 Revell C-45F Expeditor

Post by Avgas »

Usual Revell side opening box. Wish they would go to proper boxes. This is a reboxing of the ICM kit. Really effective model artwork against a real background photo.

Image

Decals for two versions, USAF and RN. Masks bought by moi. The RN roundels are the split ones where you have to put the red dot in separately. Don't know why they do that.

Image

Six grey sprues and a transparency sprue, all bagged together.

Image

Instructions are 16 pages of A4 and are the new Revell style which I quite like. Lovely pic of the finished model on the front page so you know what yours is supposed to look like but won't.

I've another couple of Sig and GB builds to finish before I get cracking on this but the butchery will begin soon, oh yes.

This looks nice! I've never seen revell instructions like that before, better than their old ones. Hope it goes well buddy, I've had mixed results with ICM kits in the past. Fingers crossed!! :th:

On we go. Got the transparencies masked up.

Image

Laid some zinc chromate down on the inside bits.

Image

Fitted the transparencies. You will notice that all the aerial stuff is moulded onto the fuselage halves. Good idea but you have to be careful not to break anything off.

Image

Interior decals in place.

Image

Bulkheads fitted.

Image

Dry fit reveals a precise fit. There are a couple of EPMs on the back of the front bulkhead but no one will see them once it's buttoned up. So far it's a really nice kit.

Got the fuselage buttoned up after a light wash inside with some lamp black oil. There's no detail as such on the internal fuselage so it was just to dampen down the zinc chromate colour. The fit has been superb so far, I'm impressed.

The front windscreen is a separate piece, just for you I've fitted it... :th: . It was such a flush fit it didn't really need any glue, it just clicked into position.

Engines and gear dry fitted. This fit of this kit is excellent, everything just drops into place.

Have lost the will to live with this one. The initial fit was great but putting the wing halves together and then mating it all to the fuselage was/is a nightmare. It has gone to the great model heaven.
