Global Scale Modeller

Just got my entry for this a F4U-A1 CORSAIR.
Got this one as it's the closest I can find its 1:32 scale from Revell

This is going to be an out the box build

Not done a Revell kit before

quit a bit of over spill on the figure so will need a bit of work. Not looking forward to painting it

Not as much detail as I thought there would be for a model of this size

looks like I'm going to have to learn some new skills for this build

OP delivers. That's a childhood favorite of mine, and at a massive 1/32! Happy building, I'll be looking for your reveal

Cool Revell's Corsair I have not seen this one yet. Where is my seat. Now I need popcorn got it ok sitting back and watching.

I also recommend changing the name so it so it actually says what you're instead of just the name of the gb that can be a bit confusing

Bit of a jump but there is nothing to show in the cockpit as it is very basic. Used the decals provided for the instrument panel . Went to mask the canopy but the frame is flush so going to have to paint it freehand

Ready for the primer. This took a lot of sanding as the two parts of the airframe are different thickness so they did not sit flush


You can see here how much work needed doing


The wings are hinged so don't look right at the moment

Looking good. You did a nice job getting those seems on the fuselage filled in and smooth. What did you use to sand everything down?

Started off with a modeling file then onto a fine nail file. Finished off with a nail buffer.
sister in law is a manicurist so pinched some of her stuff lol

watching this big bird coming together. Love the progress so far

That is awesome.

If you ever get a chance and have a little extra money to spend I highly recommend the sponge sanders from Ultimate. Great stuff.

The corsair is really coming along nicely.

Got home from work early and as it's such a nice day decided to prime outside


The small pegs come in handy

Going to have to give up on this one for now think I have bitten off more than I can chew so I will put it on the shelf till I improve somewhat.

Heh, no worries man, it's your free time. But before you spend more money on a new kit, let me just say that no one will mock you here.

A 1:48 WWII plane or 1:72 modern jet might be better if you want a smaller scale. I'm starting a 1:72 P-51 and let me tell you it's a little TOO small...

Isn't it a bit early to put the kit on the "shelf of doom" just yet. It's looking good to me, so what exactly is the problem? This place is a mine of info. With such great modellers here, maybe someone can help.

No worries buddy. I started Tamiyas 1:48 F4U Corsair and got a quarter of the way in got nervous I was going to mess something up. So I put it aside and did nothing but read books, magazines and watch videos about modeling. It took me almost 8 months to pick it back up again. Paul Bretland's videos and his responsiveness was great. He never made me feel bad, he just answered all my questions and once I started again it went like a breeze.

I have not given up I just think I need to get more confident at what I'm doing.
Since then I have duilt 3 models







I don't have a proper work station but a very understanding wife.
I think the problem with the corsair was that I was in to much of a hurry to get it painted where I should have built it first

Your builds are looking great for what I can see, so I'm hoping to see more on the Corsair
Looked like a good progress to me!
