WW2 US ARMY Harbour tug - Revell

Well, while waiting on my big PTO build kit and PE to arrive, i remembered I had this kit in the stash. So, I though..they had tugs in WW2 and in the Pacific. So after a little research I found that they were every where. So I am building this as A US Army tug, stationed in the Philippines.

Ok, now for the kit. Originally molded in 1956, and only thing that changed was the box and decals, this particular kit was molded in 1979. I got it for a dollar at a thrift store.

Ya, I'm all in on this tug. :pop:

Fun fact: Revell used to build real tug boats, so the trademark on the keel is totally accurate. I swear...what?

:shifty:

This is so cool. Seems completely out of the box. That ups the cool meter quite a few ticks.
Awesome idea mate.

Looking forward to see how this finishes up. :pop:
Would love to know how you did the water. :th:

Sincerely,

Richard

I was asked if this was OOB build. It is, as I haven't found much in the form of accessories for this kit. I have thought of adding some things like tire bumpers and maybe some kind of awning on the rear.

As this kit is from the pre-aftermarket era of modeling and in a scale not common to the usual boat building in general. I think most extra details will have to be old school scratch build or kit bashed.. looking good sofar and I'm well impressed :th:

Somehow that 2nd from last pic reminded me of a scene from the film "The currious case of Benjamin Button" when his on the tug and ghe u boat suddenly starts shooting at them...

Well on the last stretch of this build, and I tell you, for an old kit, it was a joy to build. Finished up the railings, and was not happy with the hand rails that went up the stack, so I made my own.
