I'll be soon at a stage of securing my stowage to my 1/35 M4, I'm looking for rope, canvas strapping for packs/webbing etc and I need to make a handle for a bucket it wasn't in the kit for some reason. I've had a good search on line but their is alsorts, with sizes etc I've no idea what I need can someone point me in the right direction please?

Hi Kevin,

Like digger said copper wire for the bucket handle.
For rope I would go for twisting 4 to 6 strands of sowing thread together an fixing it with thinned PVA.
For canvas traps I usually go for tissue paper and thinned PVA, for more substantial stuff like bed rolls I would use thin lead foil like Verlinden set (#50).
As for canvas straps and buckles I have a couple of Verlinden Production PE (#433) and fabric (#678) sets that I use. For more life like gun straps etc. lead foil would also bee the ticket here (Historex Agents in the UK has stock on all items)

Now this may sound silly but where do I get the copper wire from?

Hobby craft should do lots of wires in different materials and string etc.

I got me a roll of brass wire a few years ago
That works well and it came from a gardening centre
They also have a corner for making floral stuff like you see at the florist
It is the same wire they use and it cost me only a few euro's for 40 meters
You can also use it for spend ammo shells and making your own towcables
For the rope you can have a look at the rolls they have for woodenship models
They already have the right color and they have them in all sorts of colors that still look like real rope

Oh I'd forgot about Hobby Craft, I did look in my local one a few weeks back and wire of the sizes suggested had all gone.

There is always brass picture wire which is annealable to allow it to soften and conform better, a pack of fuse wire from your local hardwear/pound shop will be really useful too. If you have a flyfishing shop near you you can also get lead wire in a variety of sizes.
