Very cool RichardT, funny thing To think that the engineers, thought, "wow that tank needs more protection". REALLY, you think that engineers, REALLY lol. Again very cool.

thanks guys - i think the idea behind the front shield must have been to protect the tracks as the armour thickness of the front hull was for its time immense. I believe the concept was abandoned because the weight of the front shield caused instability when the main gun was fired.
This was a tricky build for me.
Looks rather strange - reminds me of how strange looking tiger 100 with the dumbo bins is - as both have the snorkel for deep wading.
PS does anyone know how to replicate fire damage on a tank.I saw a video by Mig but what the guy does is light years apart from my skill level - any ideas ?
Cheers,
Richard

Do you mind sharing your process on this? I have kits to do all these Tigers but no time. I had planned to 3d print these parts.

Hi Adam,
no worries at all.
1/I used as a base kit- dragons initial 6252 and 6600. Either kit will do.
2/I relied heavily on David Coyne build on Track Link.
3/I pretty much followed his build which is a million times better than mine.
4/I bought TMD models vorpanzer backdate which is great.
5/I did not use TMD rear plate or hull top but modified the Dragon parts which are of stronger styrene.
6/The rest of the TMD parts i used. The front shield assembly is tricky take you time and test fit.
7/The tracks on the Vorpanzer are not mirrored so i used OLD DS early which worked really well.
8/Used RB metal barrel.
9/Forgot to put on the hull machine gun cover which i have now done.
10/Rear exhausts no flappers.
11/No tools
12/Front hatches use TMD - no optics - they are smooth on top
13/Cupola used TMD hatch opens to horizontal
14/Loaders Hatch use Dragon
15/No turret bins
16/No grills on engine deck
16/Paint panzer grey - used model master enamel
17/No rust on tank except engine vents and exhaust stacks.
18/Don't forget the horn - its location on the front upper hull roof is ambiguous.Position between left hatch and air intake vent.
here is David Coyne link

Adam- anything else you need please ask and i will try and help you.
Cheers,
Richard

Adam,
19/ No latches on rear engine deck
20/No opening for feifels on engine cover - hole file in completely used TMD part.

That's more different than I thought. I checked out his thread. Impressive. As is yours. I want to do a build like this quite badly. Just need to find the time.

Adam,
i have redone the tracks and weathering and added some interest to the small diorama.I will hopefully finish this weekend.
i have a half decent camera so i will post for you a series of pics in detail of the areas that differ from the initial production series e.g
i forgot to mention there is no central tow hook on the lower rear hull it is smooth and also the alignment of bolts on the drive sprockets is different.
Cheers,
Richard
