hi i have just started in the hobby and looking for advice
as am new i don't want to spend loads of money on an airbrush what is the best brushes sizes to use buy for painting armour artillery and figures
best paints or paint sets to use. at the moment i am playing on doing an 88 in north africa camo

Hi, I'm also quite new. After 5 or so models, I have settled on using round 00000 for really fine work, round 00 for most fine work, and a 2 flat. But I've also gone mad, and purchased 4, 6, 8, 12 and 16 flats which I use for larger surfaces according to surface size. But if you want something larger than a 2 flat, without spending a fortune on brushes, I would suggest a 6. Good all-round large size. It will help doing the camo's. As always, money spent on high quality brushes are the best spent money. I've purchased mine from a pro art store, and even if my local hobbyist has good brushes, the art store's are much better!

Also, consider getting a cheap armor kit, something you don't care too much about. Anything from the clearance table or whatever will do. Practice on that with your brushes before you start in on the kit you really want to do to get a feel for them. That way there's no stress about messing up--it's called a "bench mule" in the hobby lingo.

Mine are called "daVinci Forte Acrylics" and are made in Germany according to the markings. Smallest cost approx. €2, and the largest roughly €6. Seems to be this manufacturer: http://www.davinci-defet.com/englisch/a ... nting.html.
They're ridiculously long, roughly 30cm(!), so I've added a white label on them to easier identify the width when they're standing in the brushpot. And I can only second Lysus about getting a couple of cheap stuffs to practice on.
