ISM and my involvement with The Pricks of Plastic

Post by Paul »

Im sharing this from facebook, its something i had to post as things were getting out of hand.

Ok so a post to clear up any confusion about my absence from the Pricks of Plastic (POP) hangouts etc. Bit of a long post so bare with me.
I used to join and run live hangouts with a group of guys who we named ourselves the POP "a joke title really", with being live on you tube and with a lot of things we talked about being taken out context and also through fault of our own, trouble was caused and it escalated to a stupid level to the point everytime something was mentioned by anyone in the group someone took offence (either rightly or wrongly) and it came back to me, Lee, ISM and Ultimate.
I've made a lot of good friends through the hangouts and most of us decided enough is enough and it was time to lay low to try to stop the trouble, so since early this year my hangouts stopped going live and we kept the hangouts private between us so as to not cause further problems. We also toned down the banter we shared online too with a hope to preventing further trouble.

I had over 500 live hangouts uploaded to my channel and i also took the decision to take those down of my channel as well.
Sadly things started to escalate lately again so I found i needed to disassociate myself from the POP, leave the friday night live hangouts and everything associated with the POP group.

You will also never see me in a live POP hangout and even though i wasn't a part of Sebastian's live hangout last night i was still in my own off air hangout with several other friends so i am still about smile emoticon.

You will also not see any mention of POP on ISM furthermore from this post and myself and lee have nothing do do with any opinion or views expressed by that group.

Its sad that things came to this but thats that. This isn't a "feel sorry for me post" 50% of this is self inflicted, its just time to move on and try to build bridges and damage limitation.
Like i said Ive made some great friends over the years and talk to these guys from all over the world on daily basis while we model away in a non live hangout.

I will start sharing the link to join them again starting tonight on facebook, they will never go live again and have nothing to do with POP in any way shape or form.

So if you would like to join an easy going off air hangout and chat with modellers from all over the world the link is shared nightly approx 7:30pm Uk time, you need a google + account, a webcam and Mic, click the link and follow the instructions.
I hope that clears things up, if theres any other questions please message me personally.

It's been my experience over the years that anything on the internet (unless heavily and regularly moderated) mutates beyond it's original scope and the mutation is usually slow enough that no one on the inside notices what has happened until it's too late. The good thing is that being on the internet it's usually a simple task to close down the offending article, wait until the furor has died down and then start up again in a controlled manner.

I hope you get the opportunity to do this Paul, as from what I saw of the odd video that I watched it was fun.
I just added another one to the, "What the HELL was I thinking list..."

This sounds like a very reasonable measure. We all talk a bit of rubbish with our friends, but keeping stuff private maintains the fun! I have no doubt that you guys and everyone who will join the future hangouts will enjoy themselves and will get something positive out of it :)

Had always thought about it, but they tend to happen at lunchtime for me (GMT -8) so it's difficult to make work. I do hope they continue in some way so someday I can "meet" some of you.

Basically I want to drink in the middle of the day and having live people to chat with makes it a social thing. A.K.A. a good excuse.
