Kit suggestions

Post by Tfoil »

Hi all,
I want to build a 1/35 ww2 tank and have been looking but not sure what to go for. I've built a good few tanks so looking for a more complex build now. Any ideas?

It helps a lot of you have a bit of direction for us
Maybe you like German vehicles or Soviet
And if you just want to pump up the complexity of a build just look for a open top vehicle
Vehicles like Dragons Marder III Ausf.M can be pretty complex
Maybe even more then you would like
It also depends on what you have been building up to now
A dragon kit in general is more complex and detailed then a Tamiya kit
But like i said before it helps if we know in wich direction we should be looking for tips
On the bench
GB builds
1/35 Trumpeter M1132 ESV

Personal builds
1/35 Hobby Boss M1070 tractor with M1000 semi trailer and Meng M1A2 TUSK II Abrams
1/35 Takom V2 rocket with the Meillerwagen and SS100 tractor

could try this one or these others. Bronco is certainly more complex. The Churchill has complexity in getting all the running gear right. The trumpy is just nice and rivetty and all these can be added to with aftermarket which increases the complexity and how nice they look.

GMC Bofors 40mm Gun
Hobby Boss - Nr. 82459 - 1:35

Churchill Mk.III Type D
Carpet Layer
AFV Club - Nr. AF35274

Brückenleger auf Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf D 1
Bronco - Nr. CB35089

British 25pdr SP 'Bishop'
w/No.27 Ammunition Limber (Special Edition)
Bronco - Nr. CB35077SP

Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) Ausf. E/F
Trumpeter - Nr. 01577
Listen and appear wise

As of yet I have only built german tanks but would like to move onto the allies at some point. The marder looks good but as you have said it may be too advanced for me at this point in time but I'll look into it in the future!
Thanks

I wouldn't say that the Marder is too advanced but they are among the harder to build vehicles
But that goes for most open top vehicles
The amount of parts alone is much bigger if there is some interior and a complete gun
A Dragon Sherman M4A3 is a pretty nice kit
It does have a gap where the ttansmission cover and upper hull shlould connect but it only needs a little bit of filler to fix it
But in my opinion the Dragon Panthers ,Tiger 1's and King Tigers are pretty nice kits aswell
They are a step up from the shake and bake Tamiya kits but they are fun to build
