Brush painting ?

Do u thin vallejo paints and tamiya paints for brush painting? I'm new to this brush painting thx for any help

Not sure about Vallejo ones, not used them yet. When I was last doing models I used Tamiya acrylics but had poor results with a brush, they seemed to be much better through an airbrush. I wouldn't thin them for brush painting though, I used to have an issue of them running too much when I used a brush.
For brush painting and detail work I used to use Humbrol enamels or Games Workshop acrylics.

Going to be getting some Vallejo's soon hopefully as they seem to get really good reviews, so I thought I'd try them.

I thin ALL paints when brush painting.

Vallejo model colour definatly needs thinning.

The other thing you have o keep in mind about hairy sticks instead of an airbrush is that without a really clean surface the paint may not adhere so an undercoat is always recomended.

Cheers lads ya have not used the vallejo paints yet Paul said he finds them the best for brush painting I'm looking at getting the set I have the same prob with the tamiya paint m8 there good with airbrush no good for brush when u thin them do u thin the same has airbrush or not that thin?

Tamiya paints are rubbish for brush painting but if you do use them then don't bother thinning.

Vallejo model colour can be painted straight from the bottle, but I like to add a drop or two of Vallejo resin thinner, the white stuff is white bottles.

It'll last longer, should have got it from lucky models they are half that price.

That is where I will get the set from m8 at this min I'm doing no more building to got all my stuff my last kit I did was a tamiya monkey bike

I would say it depends what you are painting, its size, finish and detial
I have used tamiya straight out of the bottle a lot, but only where brush marks wont show such as small detials or things that want a rougher finish.
If you are doing a large surface or super fine detial than thinning will deffinatley help.

Hi there!
I'm new to this forum, so i'm still checking it out.

I use Vallejo paints too, and I can't work without them.
I use them for figure painting, and yes, you got to thin them.
When I paint faces I thin the paint like it's "milky" and give it 2 or 3 layers.
For airbrushing I use Vallejo air.
I used to use Tamiya for the airbrush (works great) but I find tamiya has not as smooth surface like Vallejo has.
When I try to wheater Tamiya, the paint sucks up all of my washes if I don't varnish it first.
I don't have that issue with Vallejo paints...
