Tamiya kit 35190 - Tamiya 1/35 M4 Sherman 'early production'

Hi Gents,

I picked up this Tamiya kit at my local craft store today as it was going cheap with a damaged box......my question is can it be used as a British Tank in North Africa as my plan was a Tasca or Dragon 'El Alamein' but the price was to good to resist.

My reasearch so far has turned up that the suspension will need swapping for VVSS type but are there any other minor modifications to make as I've read conflicting articles......or is it a non-starter for a British Sherman?

Any advice is apprecited, thanks.
Cheers :cheers2:

You can use this kit as a British tank. Its early so there is no problem using it as an Africa campaign tank. The Brits got most of the M4 variants to use during the war. The difference between the M4 and the M4A1 is the M4 has welded armor and can hold slightly more 75mm rounds. While the M4A1 is cast armor with slightly less internal space, hence less 75mm rounds.

The kit you have should be fine as is. You don't need an aftermarket suspension kit as the M4 has the VVSS suspension system. You don't need a Firefly replacement either as the Brits used the standard gun as well.
